HOLLIS – Becky Kabel, of Hollis, member of Girl Scout Troop 1334, received her Gold Award, the highest award a Girl
Scout can achieve, after completing an extensive project for the Andres Institute of Art, a local nonprofit organization in
Brookline.

For this project, Kabel created a self-guided audio tour of one of the trails at the institute’s 140-acre sculpture park.
Compiling information from volunteers, staff and artists, Kabel recorded audio tracks for each sculpture along the Quarry
Trail and uploaded them as MP3 files to the institute’s Web site for visitors to listen to during their visit.

The idea for this project stemmed from the limited availability of guided tours available at the park. Throughout the summer
months, the institute schedules about two public tours a month, staffed by volunteers who offer informative and
entertaining talks. Since the park is open year-round, most visitors arrive without the prospect of joining one of these
free tours. Kabel created the
self-guided audio tours, available at the convenience of visitors.
