Paty Sonville
comes to the Andres Institute
from Belgium. She studied
sculpture at the Brussels Art
School where she teaches
sculpture.
Choosing to work
with mostly stone and metal,
Paty has found a way to make
such heavy materials in light
and airy pieces that emphasize
nature. She chooses her
materials based on the space in
which the piece will be placed,
taking into consideration how
the public will be viewing it.
In 2001, Paty was
honored with the award of “Prize
of Sculpture and Relief” by the
Royal Academy of Sciences,
Letter and Fine Arts of
Brussels.
In both 2003 and
2005, Paty organized the
sculpture Symposium of Les
Avins-en-Condronz. Paty has done
work in Quebec, France and
Denmark and was commissioned to
do a monumental sculpture by the
town council of Berchem Sainte-Agathe,
Brussels.
Monumental
sculpture is something that Paty
enjoys and continues to explore.
Now, Paty’s sculpture will be
shred by the visitors to the
Andres Institute.
