Thursday, September 9, 2010 Andres Institute hosts tour of sculpture park
By HATTIE BERNSTEIN, Staff Writer

BROOKLINE – Artists from Kenya, Iran, India and the United States will be participating in the 12th annual Andres
Institute Symposium, “A Place for Change,” which begins on Sunday with a guided tour of the sculpture park at noon
and an opening reception at 3 p.m. at Town Hall.

“The thought is that in individual actions and being, we are capable of making worthwhile changes,” said sculptor John
Weidman, director of the Andres Institute of Art.

Weidman made his comments in a prepared release.

The four guest artists, Gerard Motondi of Kisii, Kenya; Susan Abraham of New York; Esfandyar Moradpour of
Naghadeh City, Iran; and Gopinath Subbanna of Bangalore, India, will be staying with host families in the community
and making art at the Andres Institute.

The art institute will provide materials, equipment, and work space for the artists, Weidman said, while the community-at-
large takes care of living arrangements, meals and transportation during the artists’ visit.

The symposium ends on Oct. 3 with a studio event at the Andres Institute.

All programs held during the symposium are open to the public and free.

The sculpture park is located at 98 State Route 13, and visitors are invited to download maps and descriptions of the
permanent mountainside collection at www.andresinstitute.org.
